MY BELOVED, MY CAT

Sisters in the Order of Felines learn to be attentive to the tones and speech patterns of others, most especially their Moms. Sister Panther Rose excels in being a listening presence, sitting upright, looking at me green-eyed with thoughtfulness and empathy and then, when I ask for her valued advice, she says a single word, one filled with wisdom and compassion. Sister Panther is a true companion, a friend.

I dedicate this poem to her with love:

Each other's eyes,
Seek
Our mirrored soul,
Speak the word of our heart,
Mystery
Of our spirit,
